Meet the YAL Chicago Executive Board
Georgia is from the north suburbs of Chicago, returned home after graduating from college in Boston. A public relations professional by day, her evening and weekend activities include biking, museums visits, scrapbooking and going out to the movies. Georgia went to Fanari all six years and participated in Orthodox fellowship in Boston. She is excited for the opportunity to help organize the youth of her home metropolis in celebration of the faith.
Christen grew up in Hinsdale, IL. and attends Assumption Greek Orthodox Church in Chicago. She graduated from The University of Illinois in Urbana Champaign in 2019 with a degree in Business Administration and Marketing. Christen works at Wells Enterprises, the ice cream company who produces Halo Top and Blue Bunny Ice cream, in a Marketing and Business Analytics rotational program. Christen was on the board of UIUC’s OCF and is currently on the board of the YAL Chicago Conference. In her free time you can find her road tripping across the country with friends and family (42 states so far!), watching the Bachelor, and eating Portillos!
Ian Pappas is a consultant at Ernst & Young (EY) where he has focused on strategy for agriculture & technology companies. Within the Chicago Metropolis, Ian is a member of the Metropolis Junior Board, Metropolis Young Professionals Advisory Board & home parish of St. John the Baptist in Des Planes. Ian is a graduate of Northwestern University where he studied economics and organizational studies and serves on the Loyola Academy President's Leadership Council.
Fr. Kosmas Kallis
Born in Livonia, Michigan,
Fr. Kosmas was shaped by the Church. He served as an altar boy in his home parish and participated in GOYA, Summer Camp and the CrossRoad Institute. He earned a BA in Religious Studies from Hellenic College in 2012 and an MDiv (with High Distinction) from Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology in 2014. Soon after graduation, Fr. Kosmas joined the Saints Peter and Paul parish as a full-time youth director, a position he held until 2018. He was ordained to the Holy Diaconate in October of 2015 and to the Holy Priesthood in March of 2016. Fr. Kosmas is married to Anna Kallis, and together, have a son named Jonah.
Penelope Antonopoulos, a steward of St. George, is a Chicago area attorney who grew up in Glenview, IL. As a DePaul University and John Marshal Law School graduate, she has pursued her career in real estate law. Penelope is currently a board member of the Metropolis Junior Board, a Parish Council member, GOYA director at her parish, and Sunday School teacher.
Marina is a Chicago native and grew up attending Holy Apostles Greek Orthodox Church in Westchester, IL. Marina graduated from Indiana University with a degree in Advertising & Graphic Communications and is a proud Hoosier! In her free time, you can catch Marina creating or reading at a local coffee shop, planning her next travels or producing her one-of-a-kind Spotify playlists.
For the last 9 years, there has not been a year that didn't include participating in a camp or youth ministry program for Marina. She is beyond thrilled to be back in her city and is eager to serve the young adult community throughout this next year!
Nick Petrus, a steward of St. George, is a registered behavior technician who works at a home for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Nick earned a bachelor's degree in psychology from Loyola University Chicago, and is working on prerequisites for graduate programs in speech-language pathology. Nick loves music, and in addition to learning Byzantine chanting at his church, he plays the guitar and laouto.
Christine Savas is a mental health therapist in Chicago, IL where she resides with her dog, Paisios. Outside of work and playing with the dog, she enjoys walking to the lakefront, traveling, and eating dessert before dinner. Christine graduated from the University of Iowa after studying Psychology and then went on to complete her master's from DePaul University.
